The team at Llangollen has spent their careers working with horses at the highest levels of the sport. They understand what it means when a great horse retires — and they take that responsibility personally.

Jessica Mendoza is an international showjumper for Great Britain and one of the leading female riders in the sport. A regular member of Team GB with Olympic and European Championship experience, she has spent her career managing elite performance horses at the highest levels of competition. That experience has given her a deep understanding of what horses need to perform, recover, and thrive, not just during their competitive years but throughout their lives.
“The horses that carry us through the biggest moments of our careers deserve the same devotion when the competition is over. At Llangollen, we want every horse to know what it feels like to simply be a horse again, and to thrive in that.”

Nicholas Dello Joio is an American international show-jumper who has competed at the highest levels of the sport, from Nations Cup teams to World Cup Final championships. The son of Olympic medalist Norman Dello Joio, he grew up around top-level sport horses and developed an understanding of horsemanship that goes well beyond the competitive arena. Years of working with high-performance horses have shaped his belief that good care, careful management, and genuine respect for the animal are what define a horseman, at every stage of a horse's life.
“A horseman’s responsibility doesn’t end when a horse leaves the ring. These animals give everything during their competitive years, and how we care for them afterward says everything about who we are. This business exists at Llangollen exists because that responsibility matters to us deeply.”
